The reader:
al-Ruwah, and 'Abd Allah used to know the place where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had prayed. He said: "Then it is to your right when you stand in the mosque to pray, and that mosque is on the edge of the right-hand road as you are going to Makkah, and between it and the larger mosque is a stone's throw or so. And Ibn 'Umar used to pray toward the wadi that is at the turn of al-Ruwah, and that wadi's end is on the edge of the road, below the mosque that is between it and the turn, as you are going to Makkah. Then a mosque was built, but 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar did not pray in that mosque; he left it to his left and behind him and prayed in front of it toward the wadi itself. And 'Abd Allah would go from al-Ruwah and not pray the midday prayer until he reached that place, where he would pray the midday prayer. And if he came from Makkah and passed by it an hour before dawn, or at the end of the late night, he would rest until he prayed the dawn prayer there. And 'Abd Allah narrated to him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stop under a large tamarisk tree below al-Ruwaythah, on the right side of the road, facing the road, in a flat, easy place, until he reached a hill two miles from al-Ruwaythah, the top of which had broken and bent into its interior, and it stands on a trunk with many thorns on it. And 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar narrated to him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed at the edge of a small hill behind al-'Araj, and you are going to a huthbah near that mosque, two graves ...

The Shaykh : Huthbah with a sukun.
The reader:
... and you are going to a huthbah near that mosque, two or three graves, a pile of stones on the graves, on the right side of the road at the steps of the road, between those steps. 'Abd Allah would go from al-'Araj after the sun had declined in the heat, and he would pray the midday prayer in that mosque. And 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar narrated to him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped at tamarisk trees on the left side of the road, in a wadi below Harshah, that wadi being adjacent to the shoulder of Harshah, between it and the road is about a furlong. And 'Abd Allah used to pray toward a tamarisk tree that was the closest of the tamarisk trees to the road and the tallest of them. And 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar narrated to him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stop in the wadi at the lower end of Mar al-Dhahran, before Madinah, when he descended from al-Safrawat, he would stop in the bottom of that wadi, on the left side of the road as you are going to Makkah, and there was nothing between the Messenger of Allah's (peace and blessings be upon him) stopping place and the road but a stone's throw. And 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar narrated to him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stop at Dhu al-Thawwa and stay overnight until morning, praying the dawn prayer when he arrived at Makkah, and the Messenger of Allah's (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer place there was on a thick hill, not in the mosque that was built later, but lower than that, on a thick hill. And 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar narrated to him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) faced the two peaks of the mountain that is between it and the long mountain, toward the Ka'bah, so he made the mosque that was built later to the left of the mosque at the edge of the hill, and the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer place was lower than that, on the black hill. You leave ten cubits or so from the hill, then you pray facing the two peaks of the mountain that is between you and the Ka'bah.

The Shaykh : The wonders of this road and this route for 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar, and this tracking down, except that it has come before us that this principle upon which 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar based his methodology is contrary to what most of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were upon. That is because the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer in these places was coincidental. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not point to the virtue of praying in them, which indicates that these are places where it happened that he encountered prayer in that location, so he prayed in them. But praise be to Allah for the narrators and for 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar for this context. Who will undertake for us to explain these places and make use of what Hamd al-Jasser or others have written? May Allah make it easy, O Allah, open the way. ... Who has a longing for history and geography? You have a week left for the study.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : So that we know whether the names have changed or not, or whether they are as they are, because I think he will mention this hadith, for it is a description of the road exactly, as if ... he says: "Do not present this to us, for it is of no benefit."

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : Does a person fear that he will guide people to these places?

The Shaykh : No, absolutely not, and this does not come to mind. It is better, if Allah wills, as long as you do not see it, it is better, if Allah wills. Good.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Yes
The student: ... if you are able

The Shaykh : The condition is a problem. If we say "where," you say "I was not able."
The student: The ability ...

The Shaykh : The important thing is, will you strive or not?
The student: If Allah wills

The Shaykh : Alright, then. May Allah reward you with good. Fear Allah as much as you are able. Yes.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Yes, in the book *Jazirah* by Ahmad al-Jasim, and I think *Ma'alim wa Matla'*, I forgot the name of the book, in *Ma'alim Thabah*, in any case, he is researching.

The questioner : I say *Mu'jam al-Buldan*, perhaps.

The Shaykh : Perhaps *Mu'jam al-Buldan*, and your brother Khalid will help you.
