Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "And likewise, they intended to do so before the chamber was incorporated into the mosque.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "And likewise, they intended to do so before the chamber was incorporated into the mosque. Ibn Battah narrated, with a well-known chain, from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, who said: 'My father told me, and he said:
The people used to pray facing the grave, so 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz ordered it to be raised so that people would not pray facing it. When it was demolished, a foot with a leg and a knee appeared.
"
.

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest.
The reader: "
He said: So 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz was alarmed by that, and 'Urwah came to him and said to him: This is the leg and knee of 'Umar. So 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz was relieved.
This is a continuous principle "
.

The Shaykh : 'Umar (may Allah have mercy on him) feared that it might be the leg of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
The reader: "This is a continuous principle, for it is not recommended for the supplicant to face anything other than what is recommended to face in prayer. Do you not see that when a man is prohibited from praying toward the direction of the East or others, he is prohibited from specifically facing that direction at the time of supplication? Some people specifically face the direction where the righteous man is located at the time of their supplication, whether it is in the East or elsewhere. This is clear misguidance and obvious shirk (associating partners with Allah) ".

The Shaykh : Now, in Madinah, many of the ignorant face the grave, whether in the mosque or outside the mosque. You will find them sitting around the mosque, between the mosque and al-Baqi', facing the grave, and the qiblah is on their left. Yes.
The Shaykh says: "This is clear misguidance and obvious shirk (associating partners with Allah) ", this should be qualified, because you rarely find it in a book.
The reader: "Just as some people refrain from turning their backs on the direction where some of the righteous are, while they turn their backs on the direction where the House of Allah and the grave of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) are, and all these things are religious innovations that rival the religion of the Christians.
And what clarifies this for you is that even the greeting of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was handled in accordance with the Sunnah, so that it would not lead to the disliked manner that might lead to the praise of the Christians, acting in accordance with his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do not take my grave as a festival
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 5:1006
, and his saying:
Do not praise me as the Christians praise 'Isa ibn Maryam, for I am only a servant, so say: The servant of Allah and His Messenger.
Sahih Ibn Hibban 62:103
, so some of them would ask about greeting the grave for fear that it would be of this nature, until it was said to him: "Ibn 'Umar used to do that." For this reason, Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) and others from the scholars disliked it for the people of Madinah, whenever one of them entered the mosque, to come and greet the grave of the Prophet "

The Shaykh : to greet.
The reader: "to come and greet the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions. He said: "That is only for one of them when he arrives from a journey, or intends to travel, or something similar. Some of them permitted greeting him when entering the mosque for prayer or similar. As for making it a constant intention for prayer and greeting, I have not known anyone who permitted it, because that type is taking it as a festival ".

The Shaykh : Because that is a type
The student: ...

The Shaykh : With alif? He did not point to a manuscript.
The reader: No, he did not point.

The Shaykh : Make it a manuscript.
The reader: "Because that is a type of taking it as a festival, while we have been legislated, when we enter the mosque, to say:
as-salamu 'alaika ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa rahmatAllahi wa baraktuhu السلام عليك أيها النبي ورحمة الله وبركاته
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1171Sahih (Darussalam)
just as we say that at the end of our prayer. In fact, it has been recommended for everyone who enters a place where no one is present to greet the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), because of what was mentioned earlier that the greeting to him reaches him from every place. So Malik and others feared that doing that "
.

The Shaykh : His saying: "It is recommended" - this needs evidence that a person, when entering a house where no one is present, says "Peace be upon you, O Prophet." And what should not be done, because the ignorant think that the Messenger is present in this place, so it has a bad implication. And as long as there is evidence that removes the harm, it should not be done.
The reader: "So Malik and others feared that doing that at the grave every hour would be a type of taking the grave as a festival.
And also, that is a religious innovation, for the Muhajireen and the Ansar in the time of Abu Bakr "
.

The Shaykh : His last statement: "a type of taking it as a festival " indicates that the manuscript we have, which we mentioned that you should point to, is the correct one, before four lines, "Because that is a type of taking it as a festival ".
The reader: "And also, that is a religious innovation, for the Muhajireen and the Ansar in the time of Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, and 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with them) used to come to the mosque five times a day to pray, and they did not come to the grave to greet him, knowing (may Allah be pleased with them) what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked of that, and what he prohibited them from, and that they would greet him when entering the mosque and leaving it, and in the tashahhud, just as they used to greet him in his lifetime.
The reports from Ibn 'Umar indicate this. Sa'id said in his Sunan: "Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd narrated to us, and my father narrated to me, from Ibn 'Umar:
That when he would return from a journey, he would go to the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), greet him and pray upon him, and say: Peace be upon you, O Abu Bakr, peace be upon you, O my father.
." Although Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd is considered weak, the aforementioned authentic hadith from Nafi' indicates that Ibn 'Umar did not do this constantly or habitually"
