Explanation of the Book of Prayer and Its Times-07b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Muhammad ibn Hatim ibn Buzayyid narrated to us, saying: Shadhan narrated to us from Shu'bah from Ata' ibn Abi Maimunah, who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say:
Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) went for answering the call of nature, I and another boy used to go after him with a staff, a stick or a short spear (or stick) and a tumbler of water and when he finished from answering the call of nature we would hand that tumbler of water to him. كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا خرج لحاجته تبعته أنا وغلام ومعنا عكازة أو عصا أو عنزة ومعنا إداوة فإذا فرغ من حاجته ناولناه الإداوة
Sahih al-Bukhari 500

The Shaykh : The difference between a spear (al-'unazah) and a lance (al-harbah) is that the spear is round and pointed, while the lance is flat. Both are attached to the end of a shaft; both are at the end of a shaft, but the lance is flat like a comb, whereas the spear is pointed and has a head.
