The Shaykh : They fear for themselves, they fear for themselves. For if the scholar does not become a guide for the ruler to the truth, the ruler will lead him to falsehood. And a person fears for himself, so he does not approach them unless necessity demands it. He said:
"And when their cover was removed, it became apparent to them *** what the people had not anticipated"
This is like the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Az-Zumar 39:47]
"And when the realities of *** faith were revealed, it became apparent to them that they were upon falsehood"
"What they have, by Allah, is nothing but tale-bearing, *** so bring forth knowledge and speak with clarity"
The one who has nothing but tale-bearing: either you retract your statement, or I will report to the prince what you are saying. What do you have? What is the evidence? It is only tale-bearing. Many people do not have the ability to reach the prince, but they have a word, a mere word. Oh son of al-Halal, this is not permissible. He said, "Even if it is just a word?" Yes, this word of "even if" resembles tale-bearing before the sultan and the rulers. For this reason, they brought charges against Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him), and they brought charges against Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and against other scholars, and they were tortured. All of this was because of the tale-bearing of these people.

And there will appear to them from Allah that which they had not taken into account.
