The Meaning of the Poet's Saying: "So is one whose reliance is upon the revelation and the clear revelation and the decisive Qur'an like one who is confused, whose reliance has become upon the like of them, or how can they be equal?"

The Shaykh :"So is one whose reliance is upon the revelation and the clear revelation and the decisive Qur'an"
"like one who is confused, whose reliance has become upon the like of them"
A confused person relies on a confused person; how is there guidance?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Here is what is in the guidance, and for this reason.
"upon the like of them, or how can they be equal" There is no doubt that one whose reliance is upon the Book and the Sunnah is not equal to one whose reliance is upon a confused person like him. The confusion of the people of Kalam (theology) is known from the admission of their leaders, as al-Razi said, and he is one of their leaders.
"By my life, I have traversed all the sites, and I have cast my gaze among those landmarks"
"And I saw no one but one placing the hand of a confused person on his chin, or one striking the teeth of a regretful person"
How does he say this? It means that he traversed all the landmarks in the science of Kalam and found them in two categories: one placing the hand of a confused person on his chin, or one striking the teeth of a regretful person. This was said by someone other than al-Razi. Al-Razi said something else. Yes.
The student: ...

The Shaykh :"The limit of the advance of the intellects is a tether, and the most of the striving of the people of the world is misguidance"
"And our souls are in loneliness from our bodies, and the goal of our worldly life is harm and calamity"
"And we have not benefited from our research for the length of our lives except that we have gathered therein 'they said' and 'they said'"
This is what their research for the length of their lives gathered: they said "so and so said this," and "they said this," and the others said "so and so said this," and the third said "so and so said this," and the fourth said "so and so said this," and so on. In any case, they are confused, as Ibn al-Qayyim said here.
