The questioner : If a person enters on Friday while the mu'adhdhin is calling the second adhan, should he pray two rak'ahs or wait until the mu'adhdhin finishes? I hope you will provide us with information, may Allah reward you?

The Shaykh : If a person enters the mosque on Friday while the mu'adhdhin is calling the second adhan, which is called when the imam arrives, it is prescribed for him to pray the greeting of the mosque, even if he does not respond to the mu'adhdhin. This is because if he begins the greeting of the mosque, he is hastening to perform it, whereas if he stands waiting for the adhan to end, he delays in performing the greeting.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Also, if he performs the greeting while the mu'adhdhin is calling, he will be free to listen to the sermon, and listening to the sermon is more emphasized than listening to the mu'adhdhin.
Also, some scholars say that the one who is praying should respond to the mu'adhdhin, even if he is in prayer, because both are forms of dhikr (remembrance of Allah). Based on this opinion, if he enters into prayer, he does not miss responding to the mu'adhdhin.
As for the second opinion, that the one who is praying does not respond to the mu'adhdhin, he can respond to the mu'adhdhin after he finishes the greeting of the mosque, provided the imam has not started the sermon. If the imam has started the sermon, listening to it is more appropriate. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you. He also asks and says.
