The Meaning of the Poet's Saying: "So ask about your topics with a question of understanding *** And ask the rules, mistress of the pillars, where they came from and where their foundations are *** And in whose hands are they, O you who deny"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says:
"So ask about your topics with a question of understanding *** And ask the rules, mistress of the pillars
where they came from"

From where? From the philosophers, because the science of theology (kalam) is built upon the science of logic, so they came from them.
"So ask them where they came from and where their foundations are *** And in whose hands are they, O you who deny"
You take from the principles and rules and build your creed regarding Allah upon them, and then after that you declare us disbelievers and say that you are believers.
"For what reason are we disbelievers and you *** believers, while we are in agreement"
Yes, this is a contradiction, and without doubt this is an argument for the people of falsehood, the philosophers and those of their ilk, against whom?
The student: The Asha'irah.

The Shaykh : Against the Asha'irah. But the truth is that the Asha'irah answered them with a true answer. They said: We know that the messengers came with the affirmation of the deity, the affirmation of the resurrection, and the affirmation of Paradise and the Fire. We know that they came with this, and we have known that the doubt preventing it is false. So it is established by evidence free from contradiction. And if it is established by evidence free from contradiction, what is the result? It becomes obligatory to affirm it. This is the argument by which the Asha'irah, the Mu'tazilah, and those like them refute the doctrine of whom? The doctrine of the Qaramita, the Batiniyyah, and their followers. They say: You denied the resurrection, Paradise, the Fire, the Lord, and the messengers, and you said that these were geniuses who came to reform people, according to their claim. But this is not correct, because we know what? That this came with the messengers, and the proof is established by it. And we have known that the doubt preventing it is false. The doubt preventing it, because there is no doubt that prevents it. The One who created the creation is Allah, and the One who will return them is Allah. So if it is established by evidence and the contradiction is negated, it is obligatory to affirm it. The people of the Sunnah and the community said: This is good evidence, and we agree with you on this evidence and we use it to refute the statement of the philosophers. But we argue with it against you, because the attributes of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) have been established by evidence free from valid contradiction, because there is no contradiction to the evidence of the attributes except what you claim to be rational evidence, and it is illusory. So it is obligatory to affirm their existence. So the people of the Sunnah argued against the Asha'irah and the Mu'tazilah with what? With what the Asha'irah and the Mu'tazilah argued with the philosophers and the Qaramita. And this is the truth. Yes.
