"Have your souls ever spoken to you of this? ***" meaning that you should return to the Book and the Sunnah and rule by the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger

What appears from their actions is that their souls have never, in all of history, spoken to them to return to the Book and the Sunnah. Therefore, if we return to the words of the theologians regarding creed, you will find that they do not say "Allah said" or "His Messenger said."
