The Accusation by the Deniers of Attributes that the People of the Sunnah Resemble the Khawarij, and the Response to Them, and That They Are the Ones Who Resemble the Khawarij

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This chapter, may Allah have mercy on him, was established by the author because they said, "You, O People of the Sunnah, resemble the Khawarij in your adherence to the apparent meaning, because the People of the Sunnah, regarding the names and attributes, adhere to the apparent meaning." So they said, "You resemble the Khawarij because the Khawarij took the apparent meanings of the texts that imply disbelief in some of the major sins." So Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, says, "You are the ones who resemble them." Then he focused on one point, which is the statement of the Khariji to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
Be just, for you have not been just اعدل فإنك لم تعدل
meaning that the correct thing was to divide it in a different way. "Be just, for your division is wrong, and the correct thing is to divide it in a different manner." He said, "You are now saying regarding the texts indicating the attributes that they do not mean such-and-such, and that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was not just when he expressed what implies the attributes, and the correct thing is to express it as such-and-such." Then he mentioned, may Allah have mercy on him, examples. He says: "For example, the Jahmi said, 'It is similar, but he added "The correct thing is that He took possession, so why did you say 'He rose above'?" " meaning as if he is addressing the Messenger, "He rose above the Throne, why did you say 'He rose above'? The correct thing is 'He took possession.' Likewise, 'His command descends,' (Glorified and Exalted is He), why did you say 'He descends'? The one who forgives, so you were not just. You said 'Allah descends,' and the correct thing is 'His command descends.' So you were not just in the wording, but you brought a different wording contrary to justice. And its explanation will come, if Allah wills."

The questioner : Naming ... as the Khawarij

The Shaykh : Because of their emergence, their origin is from the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)
