We return, O honorable Shaykh, to the issue of the worker and the guarantor. I say that the residents of this country must be a model for the Islamic world. What is your advice to them?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I return to the issue of Shaykh Muhammad. This is a worker and this is the guarantor. I say that the people of this country must be a model, because the Islamic world looks at this country with a leadership perspective. So what do you also advise the listeners in such a situation, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes. We advise the listeners, and specifically the guarantors.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : That they fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) regarding their dependents and that they fulfill their rights. For many of the guarantors—we ask Allah for guidance for us and for them—waste those they bring from these poor people who came to earn a livelihood for themselves and their families. You find him delaying the worker’s right; two, three, or four months pass and he has not paid his right. And if he wants to take him to the responsible authorities, he threatens him that he will cancel his contract and send him back to his country. You find him imposing a tax on him every month, saying, “You must bring me two hundred riyals, three hundred riyals,” and then he leaves him in the country. This is undoubtedly forbidden and not permissible. First, this contradicts the government’s system, and second, it is injustice to this poor worker who may not find what this guarantor imposed on him.
Then I remind these guarantors that perhaps a day will come when they will be in the position of these poor people.

The questioner : Allah is the Helper.

The Shaykh : They will need people and go to their countries, and what they did to these people will be done to them. Then, if it is decreed that they are saved from the punishment of this world, they will not be saved from the punishment of the Hereafter, where they have deprived these people of their rights and wronged them. And it has been said to me: Some people agree with them on a wage in their countries, but when they arrive in the country—our country—they say, “We will not give you except this much, or go back.” For example, they agree that the month is five hundred riyals, but when they arrive in the country, they say, “We will not give you except three hundred. Do you want this, or go back to your family?” This is undoubtedly forbidden. This is breaking a promise and violating a covenant. And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said:
And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned. وَأَوْفُوا بِالْعَهْدِ إِنَّ الْعَهْدَ كَانَ مَسْؤولًا
[Al-Isra 17:34]
And He said:
O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا أَوْفُوا بِالْعُقُودِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:1]
And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong وَلا تَكُونُوا كَالَّتِي نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنْ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَاثًا
[An-Nahl 16:92]
So the believer must fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and not look at this world. He may be comfortable in his worldly life, healthy in body, abundant in wealth, abundant in family, abundant in friends, but a day will come when he will be alone in his grave with his deeds. So let a person remember this state and remember the state beyond it, the Day of Resurrection, where retribution is taken for a person from those who wronged him. So much so that a man may come with good deeds like mountains, but he has wronged this one, beaten this one, and taken the money of this one. So this one takes from his good deeds, and this one from his good deeds, and this one from his good deeds. If anything remains of his good deeds, otherwise, the sins of the wronged are taken and placed upon him, and then he is thrown into the Fire.
So the believer must fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic) regarding these poor people who did not come except for a need.
We ask Allah for safety for everyone.

The questioner : O Allah, amen.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge, and benefit the Muslims through you.
