The Meaning of the Poet's Words: "And bear witness against them that they have opposed *** ta'til (denial of the divine attributes) and tashbih (likening Allah to creation) with denial. Indeed, the one who denies the attributes and the one who likens Him *** are not certain in the worship of the Most Merciful."

The Shaykh :"And bear witness against them that they have opposed *** ta'til (denial of the divine attributes) and tashbih (likening Allah to creation) with denial"
Ta'til (denial of the divine attributes) and tashbih (likening Allah to creation) are two extremes, are they not? Ta'til is the negation of the attributes, and tashbih is affirming them with likening. They are opposites. The people of affirmation denied both ta'til and tashbih.
"Indeed, the one who denies the attributes and the one who likens Him *** are not certain in the worship of the Most Merciful"
True. The one who denies the attributes did not worship a deity with certainty, and the one who likens Him did not worship Allah with certainty. Neither of them worshipped Allah with certainty. Why? He said:
"This one worships the non-existent" This refers to the one who denies the attributes.
"This one worships the non-existent, not the Exalted *** forever" This means: he does not worship One who is free from all defects. And the second, "and this one worships the idols" Who is that? The one who likens Him.
