(The Affirmation by the People of the Sunnah that Faith is Speech and Action, and That It Increases and Decreases, Contrary to the Murji'ah and the Khawarij) And bear witness that the faith of the people *** is speech and action, then a binding of the hearts

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And bear witness that the faith of the people *** is speech and action, then a binding of the hearts"
Contrary to whom? To the Murji'ah and the Khawarij, or not? Or do the Khawarij hold that faith is speech, action, and belief, but they differ from the people of hadith in that they declare the people of major sins to be disbelievers, okay.
"And it increases with acts of obedience certainly, thus *** it becomes deficient by the opposite, and it is one of deficiency"
It increases with acts of obedience certainly, but the decrease was not stated as certain, because the increase came explicitly in the Qur'an:
and those who have believed will increase in faith ويزداد الذين آمنوا إيمانا
[Al-Muddaththir 74:31]
As for those who believed, it has increased them in faith فأما الذين آمنوا فزادتهم إيمانا
[At-Tawbah 9:124]
. As for the decrease, it did not come explicitly in the Qur'an; rather, it came in the Sunnah:
I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you. ما رأيت من ناقصات عقل ودين أذهب للب الرجل الحازم من إحداكن
Sahih al-Bukhari 304
from those deficient in intellect and religion. But we say: if the increase is established, there is no increase without a decrease; the decrease corresponds to it certainly. So if he says:
As for those who believed, it has increased them in faith فأما الذين آمنوا فزادتهم إيمانا
[At-Tawbah 9:124]
we say: they were less [in faith] before than they are now. So as long as the increase is established by the Qur'an, the decrease is established. For this reason, we say: whoever distinguishes between the increase and the decrease, his statement is the weaker position. The correct view is that faith increases and decreases, yes.
"And by Allah, the faith of our sinners is not like the faith of *** the trustworthy one to whom the Qur'an was revealed
No, nor is the faith of our believer like the faith of *** the Messenger, the teacher of faith"

The first [line] is contrary to whom? To the Murji'ah who said that faith is merely knowledge, and they are the Jahmiyyah as mentioned, and that the faith of the most sinful of Allah's servants and the most pious of Allah's servants is on the same level, and that our faith is like the faith of Jibril, and that the faith of a believer among us is like the faith of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
