The Shaykh : The polytheist says:
"And shirk is seeking nearness to the Great Lord, whose status is exalted"
They say: "We do not worship them except to bring us closer to Allah." They affirm Lordship by acknowledging that Allah is the Creator, the Provider, the One who created them, and the One who provides for them. They affirm this and say that they did not associate partners with Allah except so that these idols would bring them closer to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, through the worship of a created being. That is, they worship the created being to bring them closer to Allah. Yes, just as a person honors the king's servant for what reason? To bring him closer to the king. He gives the gatekeeper coins or clothing or the like to have him admitted to the king.
"Through the worship of a created being, whether a stone, a human being, a grave, or idols"
