Reading from the commentary on reconciling the narration of forty with the narration of five hundred regarding the poor entering Paradise before the rich

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Ibn al-Qayyim: The difficulty lies in the discrepancy between the two hadiths, from five hundred to forty. How is this reconciled?
The student: What is the stronger position, what is in the Sahih, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes?
The student: What is the stronger position, what Muslim narrated?

The Shaykh : And what did Muslim narrate?
The student: We have what Muslim narrated... al-Tirmidhi.

The Shaykh : And where is this?
The student: In the commentary.

The Shaykh : Yes, Ibn al-Qayyim did not mention who narrated it; he only mentioned the Companion. You have it in the commentary, read it.
The reader: "Ahmad narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The poor among the Muslims will enter Paradise before their rich by half a day, which is five hundred يدخل الفقراء من المسلمين ... إلى الجنة قبل أغنيائهم بنصف يوم، وهو خمسمائة
And al-Tirmidhi graded it as authentic, and the narrators in its chain are those whom Muslim relied upon in his Sahih.
And al-Tirmidhi narrated from Jabir that he said:
The poor of my Ummah will enter Paradise before the rich by forty autumns يدخل فقراء أمتي الجنة قبل الأغنياء بأربعين خريفا
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 10:562
.
And in Sahih Muslim, from Ibn 'Umar, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
The poor among the Muslims will precede the rich on the Day of Resurrection by forty autumns إن فقراء المسلمين يسبقون الأغنياء يوم القيامة بأربعين خريفا
.
And al-Tabarani narrated from Abu Hurayrah that he said: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: إن فقراء المؤمنين يدخلون الجنة قبل أغنيائهم بنصف يوم، وذلك خمسمائة عام الحديث بطوله، والذي في الصحيح أن سبقهم لهم بأربعين خريفا، فإما أن يكون هو المحفوظ، وإما أن يكون كلاهما محفوظا، ويختلف مدة السبق بحسب أحوال الفقراء والأغنياء، فمنهم من يسبق بخمسمائة، كما يتأخر مكث العصاة من الموحدين في النار بحسب جزائهم " I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The poor among the believers will enter Paradise before their rich by half a day, which is five hundred years. The hadith in its full length, and what is in the Sahih is that their precedence is by forty autumns. So either that is the preserved version, or both are preserved, and the duration of the precedence varies according to the conditions of the poor and the rich. Some will precede by five hundred, just as the duration of the sinners among the monotheists in the Fire varies according to their punishment..

The Shaykh : Well, it is known that if reconciliation is impossible, we resort to determining the stronger position, but if it is possible, there is no need.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Huh?
The student: Shaykh, the reconciliation...

The Shaykh : Yes, no, after establishing authenticity. What is not authentic is of no value. Yes.
