Second: It is said: How can the Lord, the Creator, who is perfect in every respect, be likened in His attributes to the created being, the one who is perfected, who is deficient and in need of one to perfect Him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"Second: It is said: How can the Lord, the Creator, who is perfect in every respect, be likened in His attributes to the created being, the one who is perfected, who is deficient and in need of one to perfect Him" This is impossible. "Is believing that anything but a diminishment of the right of the Creator? For likening the perfect to the deficient makes the perfect deficient" This is a principle: if you liken the perfect to the deficient, the perfect becomes deficient. For this reason, the poet said:
"Have you not seen that the sword is diminished in its worth *** When it is said that the sword is sharper than the stick"
How much more so if it is said that the sword is like the stick? It is known that if we were to liken the Creator to the created, this would be a deficiency in His perfection (Exalted and Majestic is He).
