And as for reason: because the one who spoke these texts knows his intended meaning better than anyone else

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said: "And as for reason" What is this attached to? It is attached to the obligation of implementing the texts according to their apparent meaning. "Because the one who spoke these texts knows his intended meaning better than anyone else" There is no doubt that if we were to ask who among the speakers knows their speech best, the answer would be: if the speech is the speech of Allah, He knows its intended meaning best; if the speech is the speech of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), he knows its intended meaning best; and if the speech is the speech of Allah and the Messenger interpreted it, then the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is the most knowledgeable of people regarding the intended meaning of Allah. Therefore, reason dictates that we implement it according to its apparent meaning, because the one who spoke it knew the meaning and expressed it in the words he used. "And Allah the Exalted addressed us in clear, eloquent Arabic, so it is obligatory to accept it in its apparent meaning; otherwise, opinions would differ and the community would be divided" Through this, we know that those who said that when Allah "istawa" (rose above) the Throne, it means He "istawla" (dominated) it, have departed from this principle. Why? Because the word "istawa" never means "istawla" in the Arabic language. And those who said that the meaning of His saying:
Rather, both His hands are extended بل يداه مبسوطتان
[Al-Ma'idah 5:64]
is "His blessings," have erred, because this contradicts the apparent meaning of the wording. Therefore, be aware that the beginning of every response to the people of ta'til (denial of the divine attributes) is your saying: "This is not correct. Why? Because it contradicts the apparent meaning of the wording." This is the beginning of every response to them. It also begins with your saying: "And it contradicts the consensus of the approved Salaf, who are the Companions."
