What is the meaning of Abu Razin al-'Aqili's question to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "How does our Lord look at us, when He is one person?"
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh. Regarding the hadith of Abu Razin al-'Aqili, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The question, O Shaykh, is that I did not understand the Companion's question?
The Shaykh : No, he did not intend that; rather, he wanted an explanation of the aspect of that, considering that there is a concern regarding the authenticity of the hadith.
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
"The second rule: It is obligatory to apply the texts of the Qur'an and the Sunnah according to their apparent meaning without distortion, especially the texts of the attributes, where there is no room for opinion in them. The evidence for this is: hearing (scriptural evidence) and reason.
As for hearing (scriptural evidence): It is the saying of the Exalted:[Ash-Shu'ara 26:193-195]. And His saying: [Yusuf 12:2]. And His saying: [Az-Zukhruf 43:3] This indicates the obligation to understand it as its apparent meaning requires in the Arabic language, unless a legal proof prevents it. And Allah the Exalted has censured the Jews for their distortion, and made clear that by their distortion they are among the farthest people from faith, saying: [Al-Baqarah 2:75] And the Exalted said: [An-Nisa 4:46] .
And as for reason: Because the speaker of these texts is more knowledgeable about his intent than anyone else, and He addressed us in the clear Arabic language, so it is obligatory to accept it according to its apparent meaning, otherwise opinions would differ and the community would be divided." .
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and his Companions and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: It has been previously stated that it is obligatory for us to believe in what has come in the Book and the Sunnah regarding the names of Allah and His attributes, and we have explained the evidence for this. Now we take this second rule, which is very important.

(193) The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down (194) Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - (195) In a clear Arabic language.
نزل به الروح الأمين على قلبك لتكون من المنذرين بلسانٍ عربيٍ مبينIndeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand.

إنا جعلناه قرآناً عربياً لعلكم تعقلونDo you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of Allah and then distort the Torah after they had understood it while they were knowing?
أفتطمعون أن يؤمنوا لكم وقد كان فريقٌ منهم يسمعون كلام الله ثم يحرفونه من بعدما عقلوه وهم يعلمونAmong the Jews are those who distort words from their [proper] usages and say, "We hear and disobey"
