Explanation of the Book of the Adhan-07b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: Amr narrated to us from Abd al-Rabbih ibn Sa'id from Makhramah ibn Sulayman from Kuraib, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: I slept at the house of Maymunah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was with her that night. He performed wudu, then stood up to pray. I stood to his left, so he took me and placed me to his right. He prayed thirteen rak'ahs, then slept until he snored. And whenever he slept, he would snore. Then the mu'adhdhin came to him, so he went out and prayed without performing wudu. Amr said: I narrated this to Bakir, and he said: Kuraib narrated this to me.

The Shaykh : This is more appropriate than the first, because the first is Sa'id ibn Jubayr from Ibn Abbas, and this one is the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, so he is more closely attached to him and more memorizing of his hadith. The point of this is that when Ibn Abbas stood to the left of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), he took him and placed him to his right. But how did he take him? He took him from behind with his hand, and in some narrations he took him by his qarn, meaning the tuft of hair on his head, then pulled him from behind until he was to his right. He did not take him from the front so as not to come between the imam and his sutrah, but rather from the back.
