Explanation of the Book of Ablution, Ghusl, Menstruation, and Tayammum-01a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ali ibn Abdullah narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us from Amr, saying: Kuraib informed me from Ibn Abbas:
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) slept until he snored, then he prayed, and he said: sometimes he lay down until he snored, then he got up and prayed
, then Sufyan narrated it to us once after another from Amr from Kuraib from Ibn Abbas, saying:
I stayed overnight in the house of my aunt, Maimuna, the Prophet (ﷺ) slept for a part of the night, (See Fath-al-Bari page 249, Vol. 1), and late in the night, he got up and performed ablution from a hanging water skin, a light (perfect) ablution and stood up for the prayer. I, too, performed a similar ablution, then I went and stood on his left. He drew me to his right and prayed as much as Allah wished, and again lay and slept till his breath sounds were heard. Later on the Mu'adh-dhin (call maker for the prayer) came to him and informed him that it was time for Prayer. The Prophet (ﷺ) went with him for the prayer without performing a new ablution.
Sahih al-Bukhari 138
, we said to Amr: People say:
The eyes of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sleep but his heart does not sleep.
Sahih al-Bukhari 138
, Amr said: I heard Ubayd ibn Umair say: “The dreams of the prophets are revelation”, then he recited:
indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you
[As-Saffat 37:102]
.

The Shaykh : Lightening the ablution means the lightening that is accompanied by fulfilling the obligatory acts, not the lightening that compromises the obligatory acts. As for the lightening that compromises the obligatory acts, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said about it:
Woe to the heels because of Hell-fire.
Sunan Ibn Majah 453Sahih (Darussalam)
.
Then he mentioned this hadith, the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father):
That he spent the night at his aunt Maymunah bint al-Harith, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
, he did that to see how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) prays the night prayer. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) was a man eager for knowledge and intelligent in knowledge, following the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and following those who narrated from him. For this reason, much was taken from Ibn Abbas despite his young age.
He says after:
the Prophet (ﷺ) slept for a part of the night
Sahih al-Bukhari 138
, and in some narrations:
That he was on one end of the bed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his family were on the other end
, he says:
got up at night and performed a short ablution (taking water) from the water-skin hanging there
Sahih Muslim 763f
, the shan is old leather, the old leather of a sheep or goat, and generally, when it is old, it becomes cold. He says: Yes,
performed ablution from a hanging water skin, a light (perfect) ablution and stood up for the prayer. I, too, performed a similar ablution, then I went and stood on his left
Sahih al-Bukhari 138
, he performed ablution similar to what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) performed, meaning a light ablution.
He says:
then I went and stood on his left
Sahih al-Bukhari 138
and the meaning is the same,
He turned me around and placed me on his right. Then he prayed as long as Allah willed, and then he lay down.
, and his saying:
and prayed as much as Allah will
Sahih al-Bukhari 859
, it is possible that it is from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father), and that he sometimes generalizes it and sometimes details it...
