The reciter: Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us, saying: Ghandar narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, saying: I heard Qatadah from Anas ibn Malik from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: Sahih Muslim 425a
The Shaykh : His statement "perhaps he said" refers to the narrator. What is khushu'? Khushu' in prayer is a required matter, without doubt, because it is the essence and spirit of the prayer. So what is it? It means the presence of the heart in prayer along with the stillness of the limbs, meaning their lack of movement. This is khushu'. And when we say the presence of the heart, we mean preventing the movement of the heart so that it does not wander to the right and left. The khushu' of the heart is more important than the khushu' of the limbs, because the matter revolves around it. How many a person prays without the presence of the heart and leaves his prayer as if he had not prayed; his heart is not affected, nor is his direction, even though Allah says:[Al-'Ankabut 29:45] The important thing is that khushu' is the presence of the heart. Complete it, yes. Do you miss your family? Very much! There is no god but Allah. This is a problem. Be happy that you are on the right path, as long as you are in the pursuit of knowledge, for this is better than family. And the family, if Allah wills, as time passes, you will forget them. Yes.

The Shaykh : The important thing, in any case, is that whoever knows Sharafi? Yes. The presence of the heart with the stillness of the limbs is khushu'. Is khushu' obligatory or a recommended practice? The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) agreed that it is a recommended practice, and there is no dispute in that. As for whether it is obligatory, some of the scholars said that it is obligatory, and that if waswas (whispers) overcome most of the prayer, it invalidates it. This is the opinion of many scholars: that if a person enters his prayer and begins to have waswas and his heart wanders to the right and left until he finishes the prayer, his prayer is invalidated. This is because the spirit of the prayer, which is khushu', is not present; it is missing, so his prayer is invalidated. But the correct view is that khushu' in prayer is a confirmed recommended practice. First, because there is great difficulty in resisting it, in resisting the waswas. Resisting the waswas is a great difficulty. Second, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us that Satan comes to a person when he enters prayer and says, "Remember such and such, on such and such a day," until he finishes and he does not know how much he prayed. This is clear. But there are proofs that support the opinion that khushu' is obligatory, which Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) presented in his book *Al-Qawa'id al-Nuraniyyah*. He presented them issue by issue and said, "And among what indicates the obligation of khushu' in prayer is, for example:Bulugh al-Maram 2:119 This means that if he prays in a state of distraction or is distracted by the two evil ones, and he does not know how much he prayed, nor does he know whether he said the takbir or the taslim, then he has no prayer. Some scholars held this view. But what appears to me is that khushu' in prayer is a confirmed recommended practice, because guarding against waswas is very difficult and involves great hardship. But is there a cure for this? Yes, there is a cure. That was complained of to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he ordered the one who complained of it to spit to his left three times and seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. And he said: He is assigned to confuse the worshippers. He comes to them and says, "Remember such and such, remember such and such." The strange thing is that he reminds you of things that have no benefit for you. Then when you finish, they all fly away, and your focus returns to what you were doing in your remembrance. Who is laughing? Do not laugh. You know that this is being reported. Yes. He becomes forgetful of everything he was being whispered about, which indicates that this is from the work of Satan. So if you know that this is something from the work of Satan, who is your enemy, and that it is a theft that he steals from your prayer, because when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about turning around in prayer, he said: This includes turning with the neck and turning with the heart. Turning with the heart may be more severe. Yes.
Perform bowing and prostration well. By Allah, I see you even if you are behind me, or he said: (I see you) behind my back when you bow or prostrate.
