Benefits of the Hadith: "Pray in Your Homes"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This hadith provides evidence that the phrase:
Hasten to prayer حي على الصلاة
is merely a call to prayer, not a phrase of worship in itself, because it is not a form of dhikr (remembrance of Allah); rather, it is an invitation to prayer. Therefore, if people are excused from attending, there is no need to say: "Hayya 'ala al-salah" (Hasten to prayer); instead, one should say: "Pray in your homes." However, the jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) state that the adhan should be recited in full, including "Hastening to prayer," followed by "Pray in your homes." This preserves the wording reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). There is no objection to saying "Hastening to prayer" in the sense of: "Turn to it with your hearts," while as for the bodies, since they are excused, they are not required to attend.
