The Shaykh : In this hadith, the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) in all the ways that Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated, indicates the leniency of this Islamic religion, and that if it is performed [in such conditions], there is hardship in it, even in what is among the great obligations like the Friday prayer. It is known that those who pray in their tents in this situation will pray the midday prayer and not the Friday prayer, because the Friday prayer requires gathering. And whoever prays at home due to an excuse prays it as the midday prayer. But if he is a traveler, does he pray it shortened or does he pray it in full?
The student: ... shortened.

The Shaykh : The first answer is that he prays it shortened, contrary to what some people think. When he passes through a town and continues his journey, some of the common people think that he does not pray the Friday prayer shortened, but rather prays it as four rak'ahs. But I do not know a basis for this, nor do I know anyone who says this.
And in this hadith, it is explicitly stated that he does not say "Hayya 'ala al-salah" (Come to prayer), but rather he says "Pray in your tents." Because if he said "Hayya 'ala al-salah" and then said "Pray in your tents," this would be a contradiction. How could he call them first and then permit them to pray in their tents second? We have already discussed this, and we said that it is possible that the adhan is completed with its pillars that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) taught his ummah, and then he says at the end, "Pray in your tents." And the call to prayer can be made even to those present in the mosque, like?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : What? Like the iqamah, where it is said "Hayya 'ala al-salah" even though they are present. But this hadith is explicit that "Hayya 'ala al-salah" is dropped, and then he says, "So pray in your tents." And it is attributed to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), so the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is more deserving of being followed, and more appropriate than analogical reasoning.

The questioner : Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Where is the questioner...?

The questioner : Yes, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes?
