The reciter: Isma'il ibn Aban narrated to us, Ibn al-Ghasil narrated to us, Ikrimah narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the pulpit, and it was the last session he held, with a cloak draped over his shoulders and his head wrapped in a thick turban. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "O people, come to me." So they gathered around him. Then he said: "As for what follows, this tribe of the Ansar will decrease in number while the people will increase. So whoever is given authority over any part of the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and is able to harm someone or benefit someone, let him accept the good deeds of those who do good and overlook the faults of those who do wrong." صعد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم المنبر، وكان آخر مجلس جلسه متعطفاً ملحفةً على منكبيه قد عصب رأسه بعصابة دسمة، فحمد الله وأثنى عليه، ثم قال: أيها الناس إلي، فثابوا إليه، ثم قال: أما بعد فإن هذا الحي من الأنصار يقلون ويكثر الناس فمن ولي شيئاً من أمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم فاستطاع أن يضر فيه أحداً أو ينفع فيه أحداً فليقبل من محسنهم ويتجاوز عن مسيئهم
