Explanation of the Book of Friday and the Two Festivals-08a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu al-Walid narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, 'Adi ibn Thabit narrated to me, saying: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr from Ibn 'Abbas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) went out and offered a two rak`at prayer on the Day of `Id ul Fitr and did not offer any other prayer before or after it and at that time Bilal was accompanying him. أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم خرج يوم الفطر فصلى ركعتين لم يصل قبلها ولا بعدها ومعه بلال
Sahih al-Bukhari 989
.

The Shaykh : Yes, there is no doubt about this, meaning that it is not prescribed to pray before the 'Id prayer or after it. For the other prayers, it is recommended to pray either before them, or after them, or both before and after them, for all the obligatory prayers. As for the 'Id prayer, there is no prayer before it or after it. What about Fajr, before or after? For Zuhr, it is before and after. For 'Asr, it is before but not after, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Between each two Adhans [1] there is a prayer, between each two Adhans there is a prayer, between each two Adhans there is a prayer بين كل أذانين صلاة بين كل أذانين صلاة بين كل أذانين صلاة
Sunan an-Nasa'i 681Sahih (Darussalam)
But it is not a confirmed regular prayer like the regular prayer of Zuhr. For Maghrib, it is after and before, for it has been established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Pray before Maghrib صلوا قبل المغرب
And regarding the third, he said:
for whoever wishes لمن شاء
out of dislike for people to take it as a regular practice.
For 'Isha', it is after and before, but the one after is a regular prayer, while the one before is not a regular prayer.
These are the prayers that do not have a specific cause. As for those that have a cause, they are prescribed whenever their cause is present. Based on this, if a person enters the 'Id prayer area before the imam arrives, what should he do? He should pray two rak'ahs, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made the 'Id prayer area a mosque. The evidence for this is that he prevented menstruating women from entering it and ordered them to stay away from the prayer area. And with this, we say that if a person comes on the day of 'Id and sits without praying, we do not blame him, because this issue is a matter of scholarly disagreement among the scholars; some said it is recommended, and some said it is not recommended. But there is no harm in telling him that the best thing is to pray. Yes, Zaki.
