A Note on the Issue of Exchanging Greetings Among Muslims, and Mentioning Issues Related to the Etiquette of Greetings.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: Before I begin with what I intend to speak about from what we heard in the recitation of our imam in the standing prayer of this eighteenth night, the seventeenth of the month of Ramadan in the year 1418, I wish to point out something that Muslims have neglected, which is one of the emblems of Muslims, namely the greeting of peace. Indeed, many Muslims today do not fulfill the obligation of the greeting, to the extent that when you greet them, they are surprised, they look at you with their eyes, as if you had done something wrong. The reason for this is the little practice of this Sunnah, even though the greeting of peace is from the Sunnah of Islam, and it is its great emblem, and it is a right of Muslims upon one another, as established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his saying:
The rights of a Muslim on the Muslims are five حق المسلم على المسلم خمس
Sahih al-Bukhari 1240
and he mentioned:
When you meet him, greet him. إذا لقيته _فايش؟_ فسلم عليه
.
But this matter, which is an emblem of Islam and a right of a Muslim upon his brother, has become unknown to many people or overlooked.
