Is it permissible to greet a Qur'an reciter and a person in prayer, and does the reciter interrupt his recitation to return the greeting?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The honorable Shaykh saysThe questioner : Is it permissible to greet a Qur'an reciter and a person in prayer? And does the reciter interrupt his recitation to return the greeting?

The Shaykh : Yes, the Companions used to greet the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was praying, and he would return their greeting with a gesture. So, if a person greets you while you are praying, return his greeting with a gesture. Then, if he remains until you finish your prayer, return his greeting with words. If he has left, a gesture is sufficient.
As for the reciter, people differ. If he is reading from a mushaf, then even if you greet him, you will not disturb him, because he knows where his recitation ends. If he is reciting from memory, some people, when greeted, forget where they had reached. You may find that he reaches the end of the page, and when greeted, he goes back to the beginning of it. So, one should look at what the situation requires. If the situation requires that you greet him, then greet him; otherwise, leave him until he finishes his recitation, then greet him. Yes.
