Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Our Lord, do not burden us with what we have no capacity to bear, and pardon us, and forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Master, so support us against the disbelieving people."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The saying of Allah the Exalted:
Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear ربنا ولا تحملنا ملا طاقة لنا به
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
Does this mean do not burden us legally, or does it mean do not burden us by divine decree, or does it mean both? Please.
The student: Both.

The Shaykh : Both. Rest. Who will answer? You. Please, stand up. Legally or by divine decree, or both? All of you?
The student: By divine decree.

The Shaykh : By divine decree. Well, fine, rest. Good, what Allah willed for you, but you, yes, say it, you know that. That is, you.
The student: By divine decree.

The Shaykh : By divine decree, you agree with your son. Rest, fine. Please.
The student: Legally.

The Shaykh : Legally, correct.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : No, legally it is not possible for it to be by divine decree, because Allah the Exalted may burden a person by decree with what he cannot withstand; he may burn, a wall may fall on him, an enemy may imprison him and torment him morning and evening. But legally, no, Allah does not burden anyone legally with what he cannot withstand, ever. And thus we said a moment ago that the divorce of the obsessive-compulsive person, what is it? It does not take effect, because he cannot withstand anything other than what he spoke.
And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us واعف عنا واغفر لنا وارحمنا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
Three sentences, what is the difference between them, who knows?
Pardon us اعف عنا
What we neglected of the obligatory, meaning: pardon us for the shortcoming in the obligatory.
And forgive us اغفر لنا
What we committed of sins, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And seek forgiveness for Your sin واستغفر لذنبك
.
And seek forgiveness for their sins واستغفروا لذنوبهم
.
So, pardon us for what? For the negligence in the obligatory. Forgive us for what? For committing the forbidden in sins. And have mercy on us, complete what we desire of Your pleasure, so this becomes like the result of what preceded.
You are our Master أنت مولانا
Who takes charge of our affairs
so give us victory over the disbelieving people." فانصرنا على القوم الكافرين
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
from among the children of Adam, or from among the jinn? Against the disbelieving people, from among the children of Adam or from among the jinn? From all of them, because Shaytan is a disbeliever, he was arrogant and was among the disbelievers.
So you ask Allah to support you against him such that he does not mislead you or cause you to fall, and likewise the disbelievers from among the children of Adam, their matter is apparent.
We ask Allah the Exalted to take charge of us and you with His care, and to support us against the disbelieving people, for He is capable of all things. And to the questions in the remaining time, seven minutes left, praise be to Allah.
