The Categories of Guidance.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Because guidance is divided into two categories: guidance of clarification and guidance of success. Guidance of clarification and guidance of success.
Guidance of clarification: This is general for everyone, even the disbelievers. Allah guided them with guidance of clarification. Allah the Exalted said:
And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance
[Fussilat 41:17]
.
Guidance of success: This is specific to those whom Allah has granted success in faith. So pay attention. Allah said to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like
[Al-Qasas 28:56]
. And He said in another verse:
And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path -
[Ash-Shuraa 42:52]
How can this be a negation and an affirmation? We say the answer is:
Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like
[Al-Qasas 28:56]
is guidance of success, and
And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path -
[Ash-Shuraa 42:52]
is guidance of clarification. The Messenger explained everything, leaving nothing unexplained for his Ummah, to the extent that Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, and there was no bird flapping its wings in the sky except that knowledge about it was mentioned to us.
.
And a man from among the polytheists said to Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him): He said:
I see that your friend teaches you even about your excrement,” to which he replied, “Yes
Mishkat al-Masabih 370
What does this phrase mean? It means he taught them everything, even relieving oneself. A person goes to relieve himself by urination or defecation, and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) taught them how to do it. He said:
Yes, he forbade us from facing the qiblah while urinating or defecating, from cleaning ourselves with our right hand, from cleaning ourselves with less than three stones, and from cleaning ourselves with dung or bone.
How many are these? Be patient. How many are these?

How many are these? Four.
