The importance of the word of tawhid (the oneness of Allah), "La ilaha illa Allah."
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the only deity, and for this reason this great phrase, "There is no god but Allah," appeared repeatedly in the Noble Qur'an. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: And who? And who? [Ali 'Imran 3:18] meaning in His state of being the One who establishes justice, that is, equity. Then He affirmed this by saying: [Ali 'Imran 3:6]. I ask Allah to make me and you among the people of knowledge who testified that there is no god but Allah [Ali 'Imran 3:18]. And by Allah, this is a distinction and virtue for the scholars that nothing can equal, namely that Allah made them the witnesses to His oneness, Blessed and Exalted is He. Even if there were no other encouragement in knowledge besides this verse, it would be sufficient. Now, who is meant by "the people of knowledge" here? Is it meant to be the people of knowledge in the craft of making airplanes and military machines and the like, or is it the people of knowledge of Allah, His Shari'ah, and His rulings? The second, not the first? The second, without a doubt.
And everything you see, and everything I have seen, of praise for knowledge in the Qur'an and the Sunnah, the intended meaning is always Islamic knowledge; the intended meaning is knowledge of Allah, knowledge of Allah's rulings, knowledge of Allah's actions.
