Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “O children of Adam, We have sent down for you garments to cover your private parts and adornment, and the garment of righteousness; that is best. That is from the signs of Allah, so that they may remember.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : What is it? It is the nineteenth of Ramadan in the year 1420. From what we heard this morning in the imam’s recitation was the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He:
O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah يا بني آدم قد أنزلنا عليكم لباسًا يواري سوءاتكم وريشَا ولباس التقوى ذلك خير ذلك من ءايات الله
[Al-A'raf 7:26]
. Allah the Exalted addresses the children of Adam, and the intended meaning is the sons and daughters of Adam, because when a tribe is addressed, they are addressed using the masculine form, just as you say “the sons of Tamim.” Likewise, “the children of Adam” includes both males and females.
