The Prayer upon the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) Using the Form of Direct Address
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q 3: Is it permissible to pray upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) using the form of direct address, and is it permissible to say: “Allah and His Messenger know best” in matters of the Shari'ah after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A 3: It is prescribed to send prayers and blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) using the form of direct address, as established in the hadith of the tashahhud in prayer. If a person is asked about something he does not know, let him say: “I do not know,” or say: “Allah knows best.” He should not say: “Allah and His Messenger know best” after the death of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him); because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) does not know what people do after him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
