Is it permissible for the ma'mum to recite two surahs after al-Fatihah if the imam prolongs the prayer in the silent prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A questioner asks: Is it permissible for the ma'mum to recite two surahs after al-Fatihah if the imam prolongs the recitation in the silent prayer?

The Shaykh : Yes, the ma'mum recites in the silent prayer until his imam bows, and there is no blame on him even if he recites two or three surahs; there is no blame. As for the loud prayer, the ma'mum does not recite anything except al-Fatihah only, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do not do that, except for Umm Al-Kitab, for there is no Salat for one who does not recite it. لا تقرؤوا خلف إمامكم إلا بأم القرآن فإنه لا صلاة لمن لم يقرأ بها
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 311Sahih (Darussalam)
