Is it permissible to seek nearness to Allah through love for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, yes. The questioner asks: Is it permissible to seek nearness to Allah through our love for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?
We say: Yes, because our love for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is among the best of deeds. In fact, no one has faith until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is dearer to him than himself, his child, his father, and all of mankind. Likewise, through our following of him, because that is righteous work.

The questioner : And what is the wording, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : He says: “O Allah, I ask You by my love for Your Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) such and such, or I ask You by my following of Your Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) such and such”
Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins
[Ali 'Imran 3:193]
