What is the ruling on university professors for female students appearing on the television screen?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His EminenceThe Shaykh : What is the ruling on male teachers for female students in universities appearing on the television screen?

The Shaykh : There is no need for this, as the teacher can teach by having only his voice heard without his image. If there is no need for it, it is better to refrain from it. As for prohibition, it is not forbidden, because it is not forbidden for a woman to look at a man unless her looking is accompanied by enjoyment or desire, in which case it is forbidden for her. But if it is not accompanied by desire or enjoyment, there is no harm in her looking at a man. For this reason, Aisha, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her), used to look at the Abyssinians as they played in the mosque, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would cover her from them. He said to Fatimah bint Qays:
Spend the waiting period in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum for he is blind and you can undress اعتدي في بيت ابن أم مكتوم فإنه رجل أعمى تضعين ثيابك عنده
Sunan Abi Dawud 2284Sahih (Al-Albani)
And the Muslims continued to have their women go out to the markets, and they would look at the faces of men, and they did not say to the men, "Veil yourselves from the women as the women veil themselves from you." If that is the case, then there is nothing wrong with a woman looking at this teacher, as long as she does not feel that she is enjoying looking at him or that her desire is aroused when looking at him. In that case, she must lower her gaze.
