The Answer to the Doubt of the Tomb-Visitors, Which Is That the Answering of Supplication Occurs at the Grave of a Wali
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : If someone were to say: There are people who come to a grave and ask the person in the grave to cure them of their illness, and they are cured. If that is the case, what is the answer to that?
The answer to that is:
First: We must demand the authenticity of the transmission. Pay attention, everyone, this is beneficial for the student of knowledge. There are many false claims. So first, what do we demand? We demand the authenticity of the transmission. We asked: Who said this? Who said that a person supplicated to a wali in his grave and was answered? Who said this? This is the first point.
If we assume that the transmission is authentic, but I say: If we assume that it happened, that is unlikely. But if we assume it, then it happened at the time of his supplication, not because of his supplication. Pay attention, my son.
It happened, what? At the time of his supplication, not because of his supplication. There is a difference between what happens at the time of something and what happens because of it. Have you seen if a person arrives in a town and it rains when he arrives, is it said that the rain fell because of his arrival or at the time of his arrival? Yes, at the time of his arrival, not because of his arrival. So if we assume that a person supplicated to a wali in his grave and was cured of his illness, then this was not because of his supplication to this wali, but rather, what? It was at the time of his supplication to this wali. If someone were to say: This is a claim on your part, because we say that the cure was because of his supplication, not at the time of it, because the principle is that a thing is attributed to its apparent cause. Are you with me, everyone? I mean, if someone were to say: But the cure happened because of the supplication of this wali, because the principle is that a thing is attributed to, what? Its apparent cause, and we do not know a cause other than the supplication of this wali, so let the ruling be attributed to it. What is the answer? What is the answer? Listen to the answer from Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:[Al-Ahqaf 46:5]. Who is more astray than one who is astray, meaning no one is more astray [Al-Ahqaf 46:5] what? [Al-Ahqaf 46:5] If he were to supplicate until the Day of Resurrection, it would not be answered for him [Al-Ahqaf 46:5-6]. So is it possible that this one who is supplicated to other than Allah would answer? What is the evidence? What is the evidence? The saying of Allah, the Exalted: [Al-Ahqaf 46:5].
So if he says: Allah says:[Al-Ahqaf 46:5]. And this one supplicates to one who answers him. The one who holds the falsehood argues by saying: Yes, Allah said: Who is more astray than one who does not answer, and this one supplicates to one who answers. We say: This is impossible, because the Exalted says: [Saba 34:22-23] So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, negated everything that the polytheists attribute to Him. And He, the Exalted, said: What? [Fatir 35:14]. Truthful is Allah, no one informs us like an expert. And who is the expert? Allah, Mighty and Majestic.
So, my brothers, it is obligatory for us, when we ask, to ask whom? Allah. When we seek help, to seek help from Allah. When we rely, to rely on Allah. When we call for aid, to call for aid from Allah.[An-Naml 27:62].

And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allah those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection
ومن أضل من يدعو من دون الله من لا يستجيب له إلى يوم القيامةthan he who invokes besides Allah those who
ممن يدعو من دون الله من لاthose who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection
من لا يستجيب له إلى يوم القيامةand they, of their invocation, are unaware. (6) And when the people are gathered [that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of their worship.
And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allah those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection, and they, of their invocation, are unaware.
So if he says: Allah says:
And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allah those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection
(22) Say, [O Muhammad], "Invoke those you claim [as deities] besides Allah." They do not possess an atom's weight [of ability] in the heavens or on the earth, and they do not have therein any partnership [with Him], nor is there for Him from among them any assistant. (23) And intercession does not benefit with Him except for one whom He permits. [And those wait] until, when terror is removed from their hearts, they will say [to one another], "What has your Lord said?" They will say, "The truth." And He is the Most High, the Grand.
If you call upon them
If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association. And none can inform you like [one] Acquainted [with all matters].
So, my brothers, it is obligatory for us, when we ask, to ask whom? Allah. When we seek help, to seek help from Allah. When we rely, to rely on Allah. When we call for aid, to call for aid from Allah.
