The Shaykh : But if someone were to say: He went to the grave of so-and-so or the grave of a certain wali and called upon him, and he was answered. Let us say that he was sick, so he went to the owner of the grave and said, “O my master, O friend of Allah, O such-and-such, O such-and-such, I am sick, so cure me,” and he was cured. What do we do?
We say: We testify that this did not cure you, and we swear to this that it did not cure you, because our Lord, Mighty and Majestic, says: Answer, everyone, read the verse: [Fatir 35:14]. Is there anyone who knows better than Allah? No. Meaning, like Allah, Mighty and Majestic, [Fatir 35:14] No. Well, this man called upon the owner of the grave and was cured. We say: The One who cured you is Allah, Mighty and Majestic, but He made your cure through this forbidden cause as a trial for you. A person may be tested when the causes of sin are prepared for him.
