A sermon titled Reflections on the End of Surat al-Waqi'ah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for what follows:
You have heard in the first sermon what you heard about what will happen, or rather about some of what will happen, on the Day of Resurrection. And that is the truth of certainty; it is a firm truth. So it is obligatory for us to prepare for that day. It is obligatory for us to reflect on the end of Surat al-Waqi'ah, which is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(83) Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat (84) And you are at that time looking on - (85) And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see - (86) Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed, (87) Bring it back, if you should be truthful?
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:83-87]
Is it possible for anyone to return it to its body? No, this is not possible, because Allah the Exalted challenged creation to return it if they were truthful. But this is not possible; even if all the doctors on earth gathered to return the soul from the throat to the body, they would find no way to do so. And what is the result? A person must think about the result, not about the length or shortness of life. There is no doubt that a long life in obedience to Allah is good, but the whole matter is how you die, not where you die or when you die. For that is bound to happen. But in what state will you die? Listen, Allah the Mighty and Majestic said when mentioning the death throes of a person:
(88) And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah, (89) Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:88-89]
O Allah, make us among them, O Lord of the worlds.
(90) And if he was of the companions of the right, (91) Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right." (92) But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray, (93) Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water (94) And burning in Hellfire
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:90-94]
I seek refuge in Allah from that. We seek refuge in Allah from that. We seek refuge in Allah from that.
(95) Indeed, this is the true certainty, (96) So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:95-96]
O servants of Allah, work for this day. Work for the day of your death and work for the day of your resurrection. Whoever is good in times of ease, let him rejoice, for Allah the Exalted will be good to him in times of hardship. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Know Allah in times of ease, He will know you in times of hardship.
Meaning: increase in the worship of Allah the Mighty and Majestic in times of ease, in youth, in health, in wealth, in security, and in leisure. For Allah the Exalted will recognize you in times of hardship, and there is no greater hardship than the arrival of the term of death. For Satan is most eager regarding the son of Adam in that terrifying moment, and a person is most soft in resolve in that terrifying moment, except for whom Allah helps. It was mentioned that Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him), when his death approached, kept saying: "Later, later" So the one beside him said: O Abu 'Abd Allah, you are saying "later, later," what is this? He said: Satan is standing at the door gnashing his teeth, saying: "Defeat me, O Ahmad, defeat me, O Ahmad." Meaning: "Defeat me, I have not gained anything from you." So Imam Ahmad says to him: " Later, later," meaning: until now, as long as the soul is in the body, a person is in danger. O Allah, firm us with the firm word in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. O Allah, make the best of our deeds their endings, and the best of our deeds their endings, and the best of our days and the happiest of them the day we meet You, O Lord of the worlds, O You who possess majesty and honor. O Allah, make us among the ascetics in this world and among the desirous in the Hereafter. O Allah, make us know the value of our life in this world so that we prepare for the true life in the other, O Lord of the worlds. And know that the best of speech is the Book of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation in the religion is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance. O Muslims, hold fast to the Book of Allah, hold fast to the guidance of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), hold fast to following the Salaf al-Salih, and beware of innovations, for they are misguidance, even if they are adorned in the souls of their followers. Allah the Mighty and Majestic said:
Then is one to whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive so he considers it good [like one rightly guided]? For indeed, Allah sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. So do not let yourself perish over them in regret
[Fatir 35:8]
Increase in sending prayers and blessings upon your Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), for there is no right of any created being, no right of any created being, greater than the right of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) upon you. Indeed, Allah the Exalted guided you through him from misguidance and made clear to you the truth through his tongue (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). O Allah, send prayers and blessings upon him. O Allah, send prayers and blessings upon him. O Allah, send prayers and blessings upon him. O Allah, reward him on our behalf with the best of what You have rewarded a Prophet for his Ummah. O Allah, gather us in his group. O Allah, admit us into his intercession. O Allah, let us drink from his pool. O Allah, gather us with him in the abode of eternity, in the abode of permanent bliss, in Your nearness, O Most Merciful of the merciful. O Allah, be pleased with his righteous Caliphs, and with the rest of the Companions all of them, and with those who follow them in excellence until the Day of Judgment. O Allah, rectify the rulers of the Muslims. O Allah, grant them the implementation of Your Book and the Sunnah of Your Prophet, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, rectify their inner circle and help them to bear the trust, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, we ask You in this station of ours, while we are waiting for an obligation You have imposed upon us, we ask You, O Allah, in this station, to help our brothers in Chechnya. O Allah, help them against their enemy. O Allah, grant them patience against what those tyrannical, atheistic Russians inflict upon them, O Lord of the worlds.
