What is the ruling on placing markers on graves?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah guide you and protect you, O honorable Shaykh. What is the ruling on placing sticks on graves to serve as a marker for the grave? Also, what is the ruling on placing a pebble on the grave with another pebble to serve as a marker as well? May Allah guide you?

The Shaykh : There is no harm in this. That is, there is no harm in a person placing a marker on the grave of a relative or a friend, provided that it is not painted, meaning colored. If it is colored, it is not permissible, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
He forbade plastering the grave. نهى أن يجصص القبر
As for an ordinary pebble, a stick, or a piece of iron, there is no blame on you. Do you have another question?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Look, the bathroom is nearby. Perform wudu' here. Perform wudu'. Look, the qiblah is in the corner. The corner in the second place. Yes, yes, after that.
