How is the hadith (Is Shaytan despairing that he will be worshipped in the Arabian Peninsula?) reconciled with the fact that shirk (associating partners with Allah) occurred there?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Please go ahead.

The questioner : May Allah reward you. A hadith was narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he
Iblis despaired that he would be worshipped in this Peninsula أيس إبليس أن يعبد في هذه الجزيرة
and yet shirk (associating partners with Allah) and the worship of idols occurred in the time of Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab (may Allah have mercy on him). How do we reconcile these two things, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes,
Shaytan despaired الشيطان يئس
the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say: "Allah is not worshipped with others in the Peninsula." If the Messenger had informed us himself that shirk (associating partners with Allah) could not occur in the Peninsula, there would have been a problem. But he said:
Shaytan despaired الشيطان يئس
Because when Shaytan saw the conquests and the victory of Islam, he despaired that he would be associated with Allah—do not mess with the words, my son—when he saw these conquests and victories, he despaired that anyone would worship other than Allah in the Peninsula. But does his despairing mean that it is impossible? No, because this was Iblis's assumption, and he was disappointed, meaning it became clear that his assumption was incorrect. Did you understand or not? Yes.
