And Allah the Exalted mentioned the inimitability of the Qur'an in four aspects: inimitability by the entire Qur'an, inimitability by ten chapters of it, inimitability by one chapter of it, and inimitability by its like. And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof

Or do they say, "He invented it"? Say, "Then bring ten surahs like it that have been invented

أم يقولون افتراه قل فأتوا بعشر سور مثله مفتريات

[Hud 11:13]

And He the Exalted said:

Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it

قل لئن اجتمعت الإنس والجن على أن يأتوا بمثل هذا القرآن لا يأتون بمثله

[Al-Isra 17:88]

And He the Exalted said:

Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.

فليأتوا بحديث مثله إن كانوا صادقين

[At-Tur 52:34]

And Allah Mighty and Majestic challenged creation to bring forth the like of this Qur'an, even if it were only one verse, just as He challenged them to create the smallest of His creations, saying:

Indeed, those you invoke besides Allah will never create [as much as] a fly, even if they gathered together for that purpose

إن الذين تدعون من دون الله لن يخلقوا ذبابا ولو اجتمعوا له

[Al-Hajj 22:73]
