Did anyone among the people say that the Fire will cease to exist?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Did anyone among the people say that the Fire will cease to exist?

The Shaykh : Because it is not eternal? Did anyone say this? Did anyone say this? Now, what if someone said this and said that the Lord of the Worlds is eternal, what would you say? Whom do we believe? Yes, that is the end of it. So, in reality, this is considered one of the slips of some scholars, one of their mistakes. I saw a comment by our Shaykh, Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'di (may Allah have mercy on him), on the book *Shifa al-'Alil* by Ibn al-Qayyim, in which he criticized this strongly, even saying that every noble horse stumbles and every sharp sword has a dull edge, and that Ibn al-Qayyim should not be defended in this matter. So, no, and without a doubt, this is a weak statement. Therefore, you will find that the beliefs of the people of the Sunnah and the community all contain both [attributes], and they do not cease to exist forever. Do you understand? Yes, indeed?
