In His saying, the Exalted: ((And they kill the prophets)), why did Allah not support His messengers against their enemy and their enemy?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : ......Is this a test from Allah for the messengers and prophets?

The Shaykh : No, absolutely not. Rather, this is in reality an increase in their reward for their patience, and a manifestation of the wisdom of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, in that He takes these [enemies] by retribution, even though no one among the messengers who was commanded to fight was defeated. Every one who was commanded to fight was victorious, because Allah says:
Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand - إنا لننصر رسلنا والذين آمنوا في الحياة الدنيا ويوم يقوم الأشهاد
[Ghafir 40:51]
This is the reconciliation between this verse that you recited last and His saying:
killed the prophets without right ويقتلون النبيين بغير الحق
[Al-Baqarah 2:61]
Indeed, this is a reality we forgot to mention: the reconciliation between the two verses. Some scholars say that the reconciliation between them is that those who were killed were not commanded to fight, and that the prophets who were commanded to fight were victorious. Some say that their victory in this world is by establishing the proof against their enemies and clarifying their truthfulness, so it is a victory in speech and proof. Some also say
Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe إنا لننصر رسلنا والذين آمنوا
[Ghafir 40:51]
that their victory is by the preservation of their mention and their immortality, with a good mention, and that they carried out the message of Allah and fulfilled the trust, but their enemies killed them. However, the closest view is the first one, that every one who was commanded to fight [was victorious], because if they were commanded to fight and the result was absolute defeat, the command to fight would be futile, and Allah is free from that. So the closest opinion is that this verse:
Indeed, We will support Our messengers إنا لننصر رسلنا
[Ghafir 40:51]
refers to those who were commanded to fight. Yes.
