The company official tells the summer worker, "Do not attend, and we will pay you your salary at the end of the month, because this work is for assistance. What is the ruling?"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : O Shaykh, may Allah preserve you, regarding summer work, if the officials in the same company or department tell him: "Do not attend during the work period, but you can come at the end of the month and receive your salary, because this work is assistance for students, and this work was only established as assistance?"

The Shaykh : What I see is that it is obligatory for the person to attend and to demand the work, because the government has two considerations in employing students during the vacation: the first consideration is that the students practice the work and benefit from this practice, and the second is that the students are kept from drifting and loitering in the streets. The government’s intention is not for the students to benefit from the money; the most important thing is protecting them, as well as training them and accustoming them to work. Therefore, it is not permissible for the company to do that, and it is not permissible for the student to do that either. If the company says, "No, I have no work for you, go," then let him inform the officials so that he can transfer to another company or they can do what they see fit. Yes.

The questioner : As for the salary itself, O Shaykh, if he took it and spent it?

The Shaykh : I do not see that he should take the salary.

The questioner : Well, what if he used it and spent it?

The Shaykh : If he used it and spent it, he should give charity equivalent to it to get rid of it. Yes.
