Some preachers mention certain crimes that have occurred; does this fall under spreading the scandal?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah forgive us and you, O honorable Shaykh.
Some preachers mention in their sermons certain crimes that occur between spouses, or occur in the markets, and so on.
Is this action considered spreading the scandal among Muslims?

The Shaykh : What I see for preachers is that they should not stir up anything in the sermon they deliver before the people unless the matter has become famous, widespread, and prevalent.
However, if it is a single case and it is something that is condemned with great condemnation, then it is obligatory for a person to contact the one who did this thing and advise him, because if the matter is mentioned, it becomes the talk of the people, and when tongues chew on it, it becomes easy for souls, and in this, there is more harm than benefit.
But if it has become famous, for example, then there is no harm, and likewise if this matter is contrary to a known command, such as the case of Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her) when she came to the Mother of the Believers Aishah seeking her assistance in paying off the debt of her contract of manumission. Aishah said: "On the condition that the clientage (wala') is for me," but Barirah's people refused except that the clientage be for them. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Aishah:
Take her and stipulate the clientage for them. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up as a preacher to the people and said: "What is the matter with a group of people who stipulate conditions that are not in the Book of Allah?" خذيها واشترطي لهم الولاء ثم قام النبي صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم خطيبا في الناس فقال : ما بال أقوام يشترطون شروطا ليست في كتاب الله
This is the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in order to legislate this ruling for the people, or to clarify to the people the ruling of those who stipulated a condition that is not in the Book of Allah, and that their conditions are invalid.
In any case, I see that the wrongdoings that are committed by individuals and do not become famous among people, it is better that they not be spread among people so that tongues do not chew on them and it does not become easy for souls to commit these wrongdoings. But if they become widespread and prevalent, then it is necessary to speak about them. Yes.

The questioner : O honorable Shaykh, what are the characteristics of washing the dead?

The Shaykh : What?
