Is everything that comes out of the sea permissible to eat?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May the peace be upon you, esteemed Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Peace be upon you.

The questioner : Allah has made lawful for us the two dead things: locusts and the fish in the sea. Is everything in the sea lawful, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : What is the criterion for this matter?

The Shaykh : Everything in the sea is lawful, and listen to the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):
Lawful to you is game from the sea and its food أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ صَيْدُ الْبَحْرِ وَطَعَامُهُ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:96]
Ibn 'Abbas said:
The game of the sea is what is taken alive, and its food is what is taken dead صيد البحر ما أخذ حيا وطعامه ما أخذ ميتا
.

The questioner : And by analogy with insects, O Shaykh, locusts—locusts are those that do not have flowing blood?

The Shaykh : Do you want to eat crickets, O Shaykh? No, no.

The questioner : In China, they eat them, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : In China, they eat them, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : In China, they all eat whatever they want. May Allah protect them before that.

The questioner : Do we disapprove?

The Shaykh : No, no, it is not by analogy.

The questioner : I say: Do we disapprove of them?

The Shaykh : You disapprove of them eating crickets, and they are disbelievers. You disapprove of the disbelief before you disapprove of the disbelief. But if they cook crickets for you, do not eat them. Yes.
