The questioner : What is the ruling on women praying in prayer halls separated from the mosque?

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : What is the ruling on women praying in prayer halls separated from the mosque, such that there is a passage between it and the men’s prayer area?
Knowing that they cannot see the imam or anyone who sees him, and likewise their prayer on the upper floor when necessary, and how do we respond to those who object to this?

The Shaykh : Yes, women praying in the mosque, even if they cannot see the congregation, is permissible. Likewise, their prayer on an upper floor is also permissible, as long as it is within the mosque. Outside the mosque, it is not permissible, except if there is no space in the mosque, such as if the mosque is full of men and a carpet is laid for them outside the mosque to pray with the men; in that case, it is permissible. Similarly, men praying outside the mosque is not valid, except if the mosque is full and the rows connect to those outside the mosque; in that case, it is permissible. Yes.
