And a man died with an iron nail in his foot; should it be removed, or should he be buried with it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This is a similar question. A person has an iron nail in his foot, which is placed to connect the bones. When this person is buried, is the nail removed?
Answer: It is not removed; he is buried with it. This is because it has no value of importance, and because it may not be removed without cutting the flesh. If that is the case, it is not permissible to remove it.
Is the customary practice a Sunnah? Is a person rewarded for doing it? What is the name of the custom?

The questioner : I mean sitting...

The Shaykh : No, no. I mean what the Messenger of Allah did as a custom. What he did as a custom is not a Sunnah. For example, if someone says, "I will wear an izar and a rida' because the Messenger of Allah used to wear an izar and a rida', and I will wear a turban because the Messenger of Allah used to wear a turban," we say this is not from the Sunnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only wore this because it was the custom of the people of his land. Therefore, the clothing of the people of the land is the Sunnah, as long as it is not forbidden, such as if it is long or if it is silk for men. That is prohibited, even if it has become customary. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.

The questioner : Shaykh Muhammad...

The Shaykh : Yes, today it is not clear.

The questioner : It is clear, but... a little.

The Shaykh : Yes.
