Is it permissible to perform Hajj for a fee on behalf of a deceased person or a sick person?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Your Eminence, there is a person who wanted to perform Hajj on behalf of a deceased person.

The Shaykh : about?

The questioner : On behalf of a deceased person or a sick person.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : And he took a sum of money they agreed upon, for example, five thousand. Is this action permissible?

The Shaykh : There is no harm, meaning it is permissible for a person.

The questioner : They agreed, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Huh?

The questioner : Meaning they agree on a specific amount.

The Shaykh : There is no harm in agreeing with a person to perform Hajj for you or for the deceased person for a sum of money. As for the deceased person, it is clear, because the deceased person cannot perform Hajj himself.
As for you, we say the best is that you do not do so, but rather you perform Hajj yourself if you are able. And if you are not able, then give to someone who is performing the obligatory duty but is unable, so you help him with your money to perform the obligatory duty. Your helping him with your money to perform the obligatory duty is better than your performing Hajj as a voluntary act.

The questioner : He is, O Shaykh, a needy man, meaning he saw a person performing Hajj for him for a fee?

The Shaykh : There is no harm. It is well known that a person will not perform Hajj for people without money. Yes.

The questioner : He agreed with him to perform Hajj for five thousand, six thousand!

The Shaykh : There is no harm, there is no harm. The important thing is that he does not intend the money, but rather he intends to fulfill his companion's need, and it happens that he reaches the sacred sites where he supplicates to Allah the Exalted and the like.
