Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I have a grandfather who is very old, and his sons are unable to perform Hajj on his behalf. He is ill and advanced in age. Is it permissible for me, as the son of his daughter, to perform Hajj on his behalf and on behalf of my grandmother, knowing that my grandmother has passed away?

Answer:
Thank you. There is nothing wrong with performing Hajj on his behalf. May Allah reward you with good. This is part of maintaining family ties and being dutiful. If he is ill with an illness from which recovery is not expected, or if he is advanced in age and unable to perform it, you may perform Hajj on his behalf, or if he is deceased, likewise. This is part of being dutiful and maintaining family ties. So you are to be thanked and rewarded. A woman came and said: O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man who cannot perform Hajj or make the journey. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf? He said:
Perform Hajj on behalf of your father.حجي عن أبيكِ
A man came and said: O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man who cannot stay on a mount. Should I perform Hajj and 'Umrah on his behalf? He said:
Perform Hajj on behalf of your father and perform Umrah.حج عن أبيك واعتمر
