The questioner : Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to read the Qur'an from a tafsir (exegesis) because she fears she will forget what she has memorized if she does not continue reading?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible for her to read the Qur'an from a tafsir (exegesis) or from other sources if she fears she will forget what she has memorized. If she reads from a tafsir (exegesis), it is not required that she be in a state of ritual purity. However, if she reads from other sources, meaning from a mushaf (written copy of the Qur'an), she must place a barrier between herself and it, such as a handkerchief, a glove, or something similar. This is because a menstruating woman, as well as anyone who is not in a state of ritual purity, is not permitted to touch the mushaf. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. From her questions, she says.
